Eriin Gurvan Naadam (The three Games of Men) is the most colorful event, celebrated nationwide in mid-July. The biggest festival is held in Ulaanbaatar during the National Holiday from 11 -13 July, in the National Sports Stadium. Naadam is a traditional competition for strongest wrestlers, fastest horses and expert archers from all over Mongolia gathering to test their courage and strength. The opening ceremony features marches and music from soldiers, monks and athletes. It's like an Olympic opening. Ice Festival

"Ice Festival" offers an opportunity to taste the crispy, icy and sunny Mongolian winter. The festival involves a great variety of activities and competitions, including Ice Sumo, ger building with ice, ice skating and sleigh rides, all on or by the shores of the beautiful Lake Huvsgul. This is an ideal venue for visitors to join in the fun and games with local people. Khar-Us Spring where the festival is held is in a short drive north of Khatgal soum across the frozen lake ice. This two-day event also offers an insight into Reindeer people's lifestyle and a shamanist ritual. Locals construct many ice sculptures as ice-ger, ice-pyramid and ice-sledge for the festival. Traveling by horse-drawn sledge is an unbelievable, unbeatable experience and the best way to cross the ice-lake. image

    Eagle Festival

Great chance to celebrate Golden Eagle Festival with Kazakh people in western Mongolia, deep within the magnificent snow-capped Altai Mountain range! The Kazakhs train eagles to hunt for rabbits and foxes. Once a year, hunters from all over Bayan-Olgii (Rich Cradle) province gather to celebrate this traditional skill and compete against each other. It's a challenge that shows off the abilities of both birds and their trainers. Prizes are awarded for the fastest eagle, the best traditional Kazakh dress and more. Another highlight is Kyz Kuar - a race between man and woman on horseback. One way, the man tries to catch the woman, on the way back the woman tries to whip the man with her horse whip. Various folklore performances are given during the festival.
